Summer camping in the woods

Spending the summer camping at a seasonal campground combines the comfort of home with the beauty of the outdoors. Having a place to stay without having to travel during summer season is relaxing.

Summer Camping

Sure, travelling is an adventure. It is really nice to drive until you find a nice place to stop. It’s great to be able to stay for a while and still have your own bed. Your own bathroom. And your own kitchen. And your own refrigerator.

Still, it is also nice to be able to settle into a nice place and stay a while. Summer camping gives you time to visit with friends and family. You can stop and do maintenance and repairs on the equipment. You can work on projects without having to pack everything up and move every day.

Really, the best option is to be able to stay in one place for the summer when the weather is nice. And then to be able to travel during the winter and go visit weather that is nice.

Having a small motor home that is only 27 feet long makes it easy to drive and easy to park. I can get into a parking lot to re-stock supplies (yes, often at a Walmart) and it is easy to find a space that works for that length.

Trying to avoid driving through a tunnel, I once ended up on city streets for the detour and still managed to get around without a major mishap. I don’t know how those bus drivers do it!

I can even find a place to park if I need to stop and do some laundry at a laundromat. Although, I do try to avoid having to wash clothes while on the road. When I am at the campground, I have a great little portable washing machine that spin dries the clothes so thoroughly that they dry rapidly when hung out. The clothes smell so awesome after drying in the fresh air!
